Fast Take: How Buffer’s Transparency Figures Can Help Your Startup

There is a resource for startups and founders that I’ve reviewed from time-to-time, which is from the social media management service Buffer, and a section of their site where they provide complete transparency on their business, which you can view at buffer.com/transparency.  

Everything from individual salaries, expense breakdowns, revenue, equity and fundraising details are all provided in complete detail. There’s not many times where you have an opportunity to compare your startup’s business metrics with another high growth SaaS startup with this level of detail. So it’s worth your time to review and see if there is any info that might be helpful to you and your startup.

Maybe it’s a different perspective on how to offer salaries based on position, geography, and experience or maybe it might be helpful to see the expense breakdown of another SaaS company and how that compares to your current or expense forecasts. But like with everything, use this as one of many data points that when combined together, help you make a more informed decision for your company.
